A few days ago, it is reported that Chinese caterpillar fungus was found in the Huanda Mountain in Jinlong Town of Chongqing Province, which attracted hundreds of people to excavate the treasure. In as short as three days, formerly-verdant mountains and trees were totally destroyed. However, experts identified that these “Chinese caterpillar fungus ”was not expensive Chinese caterpillar fungus, but something produced after a kind of silkworm was infected.
So far, due to over-excavation by villagers, the local plantation has been destroyed and the surface of the earth got bared. What is worse, as summer is approaching, the small holes excavated by villagers and the dry wood casually stacked, might lead to forest fire if some villagers casually throw cigarette butts.
This kind of over-excavation will soon consume resources, and even damage the descendants’ benefits. The local departments concerned should take measures to prevent the recurrence of this kind of tragedy.
