After the huge success of last year’s inaugural Mushroom Festival National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship held in the region where over sixty five percent of the United States mushrooms are grown, it made sense that The Mushroom Festival in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania has again officially announced that the much anticipated 2nd Annual National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship will take place on September 7, 2013. All Pro Eating, the World’s only Independent Competitive Eating organization will officially sanction the National Eating Championship. In addition to awarding $1,400.00 in prize money in the Main Event, $200.00 will be awarded to highest finishing Amateur Male and Female. The overall winner of The Mushroom Festival National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship will also chase the current National Fried Mushroom Eating Record which stands at 5.5 Pounds eaten in 8 Minutes.
“Last year, The Mushroom Festival National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship proved that the rightful home of an event like this that encourages the enjoyment of this phenomenal fungus can only be Kennett Square, Pennsylvania!” said Todd Greenwald, Chairman of All Pro Eating. “The Mushroom Festival National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship will again combine our love of golden brown breading that is strategically deep fried and centered with a succulent mushroom. This All-American golden morsel of love and food passion will once again thrust someone’s name into the Eating History Books as their hand is held high with chants of ‘National Fried Mushroom Eating Champion’ echoing throughout The Mushroom Capital of the World! I do not know if we will see a new National Fried Mushroom Eating Record set, but if there is, it will indeed be a breathtaking display!”
The Mushroom Festival is the most well known mushroom celebration in the world and hosts the two-day event annually to promote and celebrate the importance of mushrooms. The annual event provides family fun at the carnival, mushroom education, entertainment and several contests and competitions. The National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship has an increased Prize Pool this year which also includes a $200.00 cash prize to both the Top Finishing Amateur Male and Female – these prizes are considered the highest cash prizes being awarded specifically to Amateur Competitive Eaters in any officially sanctioned Competitive Eating Championship in 2013.
All Pro Eating Promotions is expecting several Professional Competitive Eaters at the event including last year’s National Fried Mushroom Eating Champion and #1 Ranked Independent Professional Competitive Eater in the World, Jamie “The Bear” McDonald. Jamie will face fierce competition from Molly Schuyler who recently beat Jamie at The National Caribbean Food Eating Championships. Along with this much anticipated match up, The Mushroom Festival National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship will see plenty of Competitive Eating action from several well-known Competitive Eaters including last year’s 2nd Place Finisher, David Brunelli and many more. The event includes a significant field of Local and Amateur Competitive Eaters and anyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to participate. The Mushroom Festival National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship should be a perfect stage for every Amateur and Local participant to wants to dive into Competitive Eating and take a shot at a $200.00 cash prize set aside specifically for Amateur Eaters. Anyone wishing to register can find additional information on the All Pro Eating website or by contacting Todd Greenwald via email HungryGenius(at)CompetitiveEaters(dot)com
