Ms. Linda Reid Visits Alphay’s North American Headquarters and World Quality Lifestyle Association
On March 15th Ms. Linda Reid, member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in Richmond East and the current Deputy Speaker of the Legislature, visits the Alphay North American Headquarters and World Quality Lifestyle Association.
Alphay is a leading figure in the global medicinal and edible mushroom industry, and its office in Richmond BC, a neighbouring city of Vancouver, was just launched in February. Recently, Alphay has also established the World Quality Lifestyle Association, which is a non-profit organization formed by American and Canadian healthcare professionals, business and community leaders with the mission to promote wellness and balance. The World Quality Lifestyle Newspaper was published to serve this purpose.
Ms. Barbara Liang, Global CEO of Alphay and the directors of the World Quality Lifestyle Association accompanied Ms. Reid on a tour of the Alphay office. She was glad to see that reputable companies are coming abroad to Canada, which stimulates and promotes the Canadian economy. When she saw the different displays of Lingzhi and was introduced to the five elements, she remarked that the shape of Lingzhi resembles the shape of a heart. That is the most fitting praise for Alphay, as their motto is “Powered by Heart.” She admired the Lingzhi displays and felt the warmth of these pieces.
After tasting Alphay’s Lingzhi tea, she gave a personal testimony saying that the tea was much better than what she had tried before. It was tasty and energizing!
During their conversation, Ms. Barbara Liang introduced the wisdom in a lifestyle combining eastern and western cultures. Ms. Reid expressed her concern in how the western society is exposed to many processed foods containing preservatives and other harmful substances that many aren’t fully aware of. Certainly people should be more informed about living a healthier and balanced lifestyle. She agreed that medicinal and edible mushrooms have many benefits, and indeed BC is the home to many mushroom plantations. Ms. Reid also stated that among the 44 billion annual budgets that the BC government have, 17 billion is dedicated to healthcare. Ms. Liang noted that when peoples’ health are improved by consuming healthy products and they themselves are becoming more health-conscious, the government can spend less money on healthcare and more on other projects. This is certainly something that Alphay sets out to accomplish.
Moreover, Ms. Reid admired traditional Chinese values, especially on that of promoting a harmonious family and a love for children. It is an important value to learn and endorse, because this is what builds a better society.
Ms. Reid is the longest serving Member of Legislative Assembly in BC and she has 20 years of experience working as a MLA, serving many roles previously as a critic for the official opposition. She has been active in the community and is a part of many committees and non-profit organizations.
