October 23-25, 2011 at Yunnan University, Kunming, China
Fungi are important for both fundamental researches and economic applications. By using the second generation of sequencing techniques, there are more than 500 fungal species have been sequenced world widely. China’s Fungal Genome Initiative (CFGI) has also been proposed by the Mycological Society of China (MSC) and Chinese mycologists are now investing great efforts for fungal genomics. More than 60 species of plant, insect and nematode pathogens as well as the mushrooms and mycorrhizal fungi have been sequenced or are being sequenced. To incorporate the joint efforts, the first CFGI Symposium was successfully held in Shanghai on September 20-22, 2009. The studies on fungal genomics have been extensively advanced for the past two years. To continue promoting fungal genomics studies in China, the Second CFGI symposium will be organized by MSC and the Key State of Mycology and hosted by Yunnan University on October 23-25, 2011. Experts have been invited and it will be a great opportunity for Chinese mycologists to learn the most current research on fungal genomics. Following the invited talks, a workshop will be held for sharing the techniques/methods for genomic data analysis. All are welcomed to join the meeting.
