The 2014 3rd National Gastrodia elata Conference

　Gastrodia elata （scientific name：Gastrodia elata Bl.）is a saprophytic perennial herb of the Orchidaceae family. Gastrodia root has been shown to be a rare Traditional Chinese medicine. Medicinally, it is used for calming the liver and for treating headaches, dizziness, limb numbness, infantile convulsion, epilepsy, tetanus, etc. Gastrodia elata used to rely on wild resource, but in the 1970 s, wild Gastrodia elata was successfully turned into cultivated Gastrodia elata. Since then, cultivated Gastrodia elata became major source of merchandise. It is decided the 2014 Third National Gastrodia Elata Conference & China (Dejiang) International Gastrodia Elata Industry Development Summit Forum of China’s Mycological Society Forum that focuses on Gastrodia Elata Industry Technology will be held in Dejiang, Guizhou Province from November 9-11, 2014, for the purpose of developing Gastrodia elata in sound and fast way, further promoting the research and exchange about Gastrodia elata, enhancing the academic interaction and business cooperation, popularizing new technique of Gastrodia elata cultivation, exhibiting new product of Gastrodia elata industry, promoting the production of pharmaceutical and health care product of Gastrodia elata, accelerating Gastrodia elata’s food product development, improving Gastrodia elata’s industrial chain. The conference is hosted by Mycological Society of China (MSC), in collaboration with Emushroom.net and People's Government of Dejiang County, and jointly organized by China’s Industry Alliance of Gastrodia elata, Guizhou Province’s Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Guizhou Province’s Institute of Microbiology.

　　The conference is the third national conference that focuses on discussing the development of Gastrodia elata industry and is the most significant forum that focuses on Gastrodia elata industry technology. During the session, symposium of Industry Alliance of Gastrodia elata will be held, together with exposition of Gastrodia elata products and relevant production equipment, and goods and materials; in addition, the Gastrodia elata production and processing enterprises and its cultivation base will also be allowed to be visited. During the session, discussion and exchange will be carried out surrounding Gastrodia elata genetic resources, biochemistry and medicinal component, production cultivation, product research & development and processing, quality control, marketing, etc. The matters of concern are shown as below:

　　The committee will invite leading experts, scholars and domestic and overseas practitioners of Gastrodia elata research and production to come and give a report and share their experiences, for the purpose of sharing peer working on Gastrodia elata with the latest fruit of scientific research and technological advance. In this case, the session provides a good platform for peer working on Gastrodia elata to exchange their ideas, learn from each other and exhibit their fruits. 

　　6. Call for papers and compilation of data

　　We invite contributions that pertain to the conference topics from interested authors from organizations of scientific research, education and production dedicated to Gastrodia elata. Papers should focus on current issues relevant to Gastrodia elata’s scientific progress, new technology, new method and scientific and/or technical content. (Both full paper and presentation are acceptable.) The electronic version must be prepared in Microsoft Word in Windows format and have paper title, author's name, author's unit, abstract, keywords and main body in proper order. In addition, five or less than five important bibliographies, fund information, author’s address and email should be included in the paper. It should be sent as an attached file by e-mail to committee. Some excellent papers or abstract will be accumulated into the Abstract Book and published in the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms (IJMM). Should you have interest present a report and exchange your opinions, please give clear indication of session speech.  

　　Meanwhile, the committee will compile a book of abstracts, which will focuses on current issues relevant to scientific progress and/or to Gastrodia elata industry development status, typical experience, company introduction, etc. We invite contributions that from enterprise and public institution and welcome advertisement from interested institutions. (Color printing: US $250 per page, black and white printing: US $160 per page) 

　　Papers should be sent as an attached file by e-mail before August 29, 2014 to: E-mail:tianma@emushroom.net. The deadline for placing an advertisement is also set on August 29, 2014.  

　　a. Conference fees:

　　Conference fees: registration fees is US $180 per person before September 10, 2014, on-site registration fee is US $200 per person after September 15, 2014. Meal fee is included in conference fee. 

　　Note: Participant must submit the receipt for participating conference to committee office before September 29, 2014.

　　b．Lodging fees

　　Accommodation is arranged by the committee at participant’s own expense. The expense standard is US $50 / Standard Room.

　　8. Exposition: 

　　During the session, exposition is held for displaying products, pharmaceuticals, health care products, new technique, auxiliary raw material, mechanical equipment, and products relevant to medicinal fungus. The exposition will be held from on November 9 to 11, with booth expense: 

　　For companies paying before August 29, 2014, 1 person of each standard booth is allowed to participate for free (including meal fees); 2 persons of each special booth are allowed to participate for free (including meal fees).  

　　1. Standard booth (international standard booths, 3M×3M, 9㎡/ each booth) 

　　Expense: US $400 per booth

　　2. Special booth (only raw space provided, and needed built by exhibitor on their own; the minimum lease area is 36㎡)

　　Expense: US $50 per square meter

　　9. Sponsorship

　　The conference invites sincerely organizations and/or individuals dedicated to driving the global medicinal fungus and Gastrodia elata industry, to sponsor this session, which is categorized by five levels: Diamond Sponsor (US $8000), Platinum Sponsor (US $6500), Gold Sponsor (US $5000), Silver Sponsor (US $3500), and Bronze sponsor (US $1800). They will be given relevant certificate, relevant services of promotion by committee. The deadline for applying sponsorship will be closed August 29, 2014.
